The scarecrow
The easiest way out would be to run away, but that would bring trouble, and wouldn't be fun. The second best way, however, is trouble-free and immensely fun: to act as a scarecrow.

The disaster
Some people would see it as a challenge. I see it as a nightmare, an impending disaster. It's not that I doubt myself, for I don't. But I doubt the others. Few things can get as frustrating as working with someone that has no clue about what must be done.
Enough
Enough 'you and I',
enough of 'the fight',
enough of 'prevail' or 'walk in the light?'
While the angels stood by
I got high as a kite
too tired to smile or to know that I'm right.

While the angels stood by
I got high as a kite

As it seems, the best movie of the year...
... is actually a videogame, as you can check on the trailer below (suggestion: watch it in high resolution and full screen):
1.15 AM
I'm positive that the only thing in my life that keeps a semblance of order is my music playlist.

The dispossessed*
Perhaps things are not as random as one could think. Perhaps some things, under a semblance of chance, follow a very definite pattern. If I go back, I can see the pattern clearly: with a single exception, they all fit into the same category. It's funny that I've never noticed it before, that the pattern lies with a very specific group of people: the dispossessed. It's funny and also sad, now that I think about it. The dispossessed. If the pattern is indeed true, then my chances are getting thin, and my time is running out.
*unrelated with Ursula LeGuin's novel.

Note to self:
Do not try it, you know not how to do it, it's useless. Do not try, you know not how to do it, it's useless and you're going to make an ass out of yourseld. Okay, you have been warned. Shit, did you really have to? Now you can't really complain, can you? Learn the lesson and never, ever, under any circumstances, try it again. Oh shit, here we go again...

Sometimes the messenger must be shot, yes
The fact that everyone thinks something about someone doesn't mean that everyone is right. Quite often actually it is the other way around: people are wrong, have misjudged, have hold on to prejudices (yes, we all have them, it's not the prejudices that make us bad people, really). As such, the one who takes up the mantle of everyone's herald will also be the one caught in the flames when it all backfires. This ain't exactly rocket science, really; it's simple causality.

Now this is fun
Do you want to know what author do you write like? Try it here.
So far, with different texts analysed, it told me I write like William Gibson (the author of Neuromancer, the novel that created the cyberpunk sub-genre to science fiction), Stephen King, Shakespeare (lol!), Dan Brown (it's getting worse, I know), Arthur C. Clarke (getting better), and Tolkien. I stop now. The two last results were too much flattering (and optimistic), even if for each of them I used two different parts of the same story.

No end
My ability to do stupid things knows no end or bounds. The funniest part is, I'm still able to surprise myself with it.

Almost happiness (II)
The perfect portrait of my life: it is generally so boring that I find "almost happiness" in the fact that I lack social skills and that each day that passes I get closer to become a hermit. Could have been worse, I guess.
Almost happiness
I'm happy that I don't have to rely that much on my "ice-breaking skills", but it still pains me whenever I must do it. Sometimes I think I'm even better at swimming - and I can't swim, remember?

The easiest way out
I'm standing on the stage
Of fear and self-doubt
It's a hollow play
But they'll clap anyway
Everyone claps in the end. It's the easiest way out.

Arcade Fire, My Body Is a Cage, Neon Bible, 2007
Everyone claps in the end. It's the easiest way out.

If it was that easy to erase the past, everyone would be doing it. Everyone would be bashing buttons, selecting, cut without paste, never copy, never copy. Select the first line, scroll it down. Delete. Empty the recycle bin, just to be sure. If it was that easy, we'd all be doing it.
Yet it isn't.
Yet it isn't.

This was what she saw:
Saturated colours everywhere: the fire of the skies under a swift sunrise, the green of the leaves, of the blades of grass, the brown of the soft earth, the trees, the birds roaming free above. An endless horizon, far away. Close by, the smell of wet earth, fresh from the night's soft rain. Birds perching on the tree tops, brushing themselves with morning dew, preparing to cross the skies with joy. Ladybugs in the grass, bees buzzing around the morning flowers. Sweet, sweet nectars. Colourful dragonflies racing across the small streams that run peacefully towards that distant horizon, frogs splashing and singing their songs in the water. Life. The senses of life, that ease her mind and lift her heart. Peace. Always peace.
This was what he saw:
A dark place of twisted metal, sharp and rusty, smokestacks bursting from deep underground and coughing endlessly, painting the sky gray and black and brushing the land with perpetual smog. The air thick, poisonous. Pools of slime and oil scattered all around, reeking pitch-black oil, sometimes cold and dead, sometimes boiling as with fever. No life; small rusty automata wander everywhere, their clockwork organs consumed by a plague of rust. He could hearing them, a faint, irregular buzz of worn-out cogs and gears screaming for life where only death can thrive. Clockwork worms crawl in the rusty ground, as clockwork beetles and dragonflies fly around, engines assuming the form of life while being unable to replace it. Metallic bushes sprout everywhere, like a living tangle of barbed wire with razor-sharp leaves and nail-like thorns. Oppression. A desolate land, a clockwork parody of life, with no other purpose than that one. Oppression.
